Selmar Technologies: examples of applications

Selmar Technologies projects, produces and installs high technology water treatment systems for civil and industrial use and for Oil & Gas field on the offshore platforms. Customized solutions for mobile desalination plants built directly on container and civil and military emergency means.

The engineering and productive experience of Selmar Technologies includes both relatively small machines and desalinators, for a daily production of a few cubic meters, and large capacity plants, designed for use in continuous cycle and able to ensure up to 2 000 m3 of fresh and drinkable water per day. Sophisticated systems, fully automated, which can cover the requirement of large industrial and entire communities.

Fresh water where it seems impossible: Selmar Technologies systems ensure clean and fresh water wherever brackish water and sea water can be treated. This is the only requirement, even being able to produce the energy supply by means motor generators or renewable energy sources.

These systems are always designed and realized according to the specific demands. Some pre-configured models for residential use or small production activity use-are available but it is always necessary to complete preliminary valuation of all relevant variables, for an optimal operation and the achievement of quality of fresh water required in relation to the purposes for which you are installing the machine.

Industrial applications
In food industry the water treatment is widely used for deminerazitation and purification, in all processes of production, manipolation and conservation in which water has to satisfy the precise requirements of purity and security established by current regulations. More generally, in industrial field, the physical-chemical treatment of raw waters it is appropriate-often necessary-to increase the efficiency of the production processes: the decrease of calcium, sodium, other metals and inorganic contaminants, and the killing of bacteria contribute considerably to reduce the maintenance of all the lines of production using water.
Applications in agriculture
Exploiting the process of reverse osmosis desalination it is possible to obtain fresh water and drinking water with low energy consumption. This process eliminates 100% of all the organic pollutants and over 80% of inorganic ones: the result is a water of high purity, with a low dry residue and a total absence of limescale and heavy metals. The use of this process in agriculture includes needs of different nature and features. It may simply be dictated by the need to exploit marine and brackish waters for irrigation and, therefore, to have as main objective that of making them suitable and not harmful to plants, by favoring a perfect and continuous cycle of the photosynthesis.
Oil & gas, offshore platforms
In this type of application, the water treatment systems must be conform to standards of maximum electrical safety, as it needs to be totally negated the risk of phenomena that could cause explosions in a typically atmosphere characterized by the presence of highly flammable gas.
Military and civil defense applications
In this field, the design and production of water treatment systems is directed especially to mobile units, rapidly deployable near any kind of water sources (sea, river, lake) to cover the temporary need of military contingents or to provide drinking water to the civilian population in the case of extraordinary events.
